Food in around Johor Bahru can be found at most shopping malls although for the more authentic dishes, you will have to literally hunt for them. take note that if you are looking to savour some local delicacies, you would need to go out in the evenings at the stalls instead of the malls. Local specialties here include the Johor Laksa and the Mee rebus. You can find these dishes served in most food outlets and hawker centres like the one in Taman Sri Tebrau Hawker Centre, the Johor Jaya Hawker Centre and the Danga Bay Bayleaf Food Park.
Common Malay food outlets can be found almost everywhere in Johor Bahru. A famous local hangout for food would be Banafe Café and Taman Pelangi Satay. Chinese food is available in around food outlets like Sentosa Mee Hoon Kueh which is renowned to be one of the oldest mee hoon keuh sellers. Tapai Tang Restaurant in around Jalan Meranti is also a favourite here while you can also go to Woon Kiang Restaurant which serves great Kuay Teow Kia.
If you prefer a more posh setting you can try out the Meishan Szechuan Restaurant in Hotel Mutiara, the International Restaurants Danga Bay, which is typically a collection of Italian, Asian and Chinese restaurants.
