On the private island of Rawa there exist two resorts which is the Le Club Rawa and the other which is considered to be the larger establishment known as Rawa Safaris Island Resort. If you do not mind the extremely basic accommodations that the resort offers then Le Club Rawa should be perfect for you.

To get to the island you would need to take the boat at Mersing jetty, the town is located about 6 hours drive from the city centre of Kuala Lumpur. If you are traveling from Singapore or Johor Bahru it will take you approximately 4 hours. People traveling to this part of the peninsular will usually go by car as there are no airports nearby. It will probably take you half a day to get to Mersing, so you would need to stay in one of the cheap establishments that can be found a plenty throughout the township before catching the next morning boat to the island. Or the alternative is to travel in the wee hours of the morning so that you can get to the Mersing jetty and catch the morning boats to the island of Rawa. There are plenty of boat operators and travel agents at the jetty where you can make arrangements from boat transfers to hotel lodging, so shop around and you will be sure to find the best price.

Be sure to check the tidal charts and weather forecast before you leave for the islands, for example you should be careful when traveling during the times when there is a full moon or when there is no moon in the sky. This is because during these periods the conditions of the waves are very extreme as there may either be very high tides or very low tides that make the boats difficult in leaving or entering the jetty. So plan your trip properly or you may need to wait quite some time for the tidal to change.

The resort consists of 6 basic rooms and 2 hut style chalets that are equipped with fans and attached bathrooms. As mentioned earlier the resort’s amenities are very basic so do not expect to find 5 star class services here. Another thing that potential guests should take note of is that fresh water at the resort is very tepid since it is a mixture if sea water and rain water. So during the dry seasons which is during the months of March to September you will find that the bath water maybe 100% saline. Le Club Rawa has only one restaurant that also functions as a bar, the food there are usually prepared by the owner or the wife.

The resort is located on the beautiful beach of Rawa, however since the island is actually quite small you will find that the island has only one beach. While on the other side of the island you will find that is consists of mainly near vertical cliffs that will make it quite difficult to conduct any form of activities there. You can choose to snorkel on the island if you want, there is also a climbing trail that is located near the Rawa Safaris Island Resort, the hike will take about 10 minutes and when you reach the top you will find that it will offer a spectacular view.
