Tanjung Piai

Tanjung Piai is located in Mukim Serkat which is about 90 km from the city centre of Johor Bahru. Tanjung Piai is considered to be one of the largest mangrove habitats in the world; you will find that it is also home to a variety of birds, multi-colored mangrove crabs, beady eyed mudskippers as well as crab eating macaques. The mangrove also offers visitors a picturesque view of the Straits of Malacca while there is also a National Park situated here where you will have the opportunity to watch the dwellers in their natural habitat.

At Tanjung Piai visitors will have the chance to experience the lifestyle of a typical Malay kampong community. For example you may get to see how ‘Gula Melaka’ is made using traditional methods. There are many seafood restaurants located here as well, so if you are in the mood for some seafood you can always drop by. The restaurants will also offer customers a unique experience as they are built on the wooden jetties.

Tanjung Piai is an ideal place if you want to relax and enjoy the peaceful environment by the seaside. Take a stroll along the beach and watch the sun as it is setting and instantly you would be transported into a scene of a romantic movie. As the sun is setting watch carefully as the entire mangrove becomes a magical lightshow courtesy of the fireflies.
