Danga Bay Johor Bahru

Teluk Danga or otherwise known in English as Danga Bay is the premier waterfront city located in the city of Johor Barhru. Danga Bay is also one of the largest recreational park located within the city and besides being a rustic residential waterfront getaway, the bay is a perfect place just hang out, eat at the variety of food and beverage outlets that are located here as well as the wide selection of shopping outlets that will satisfy just about any avid shopper. Hence, Danga Bay has been referred to some as the Vision City of the South.

The bay is situated on 1,800 acres of land with a 25km of waterfront shoreline and it has marketed itself as a self-contained city within a city. Danga Bay also boasts of world class facilities and infrastructures that will be able to cater to just about any needs.

If you are planning a family vacation here you can be certain that no one will be left out and get disappointed as there are many activities to do here. For example there is the Festive Street Mall that is touted as the country’s first ever purpose built shopping street. The shopping street boasts of over 280 retail lots where you can shop until you drop. Trams are available to take you to the shopping street or you can just drive your way here as there is ample parking space.

There is also the Danga Park where children can play and have fun at the playground and after running around under the hot tropical sun they can jump into the pool to cool themselves down. Take your child to the Danga World Petting Zoo where your child can get up close with real live animals and also take the time to educate your child about the different types of animals are out there. The petting zoo features a wide range of reptiles, birds and other sorts of animals for the public to view.

For the guests that want to experience the diverse language, traditions, costumes, lifestyles, ethnicity, food and so many other aspects of what it truly means to be Malaysia, then they can always drop by the Cultural Centre. The 8 districts of the state of Johor are well represented at Rumah Limas Johor as they are located in uniquely designed traditional houses. Here you will also have the opportunity to watch cultural shows that are unique to each of the different districts, while local handicrafts and foods are sold here.

If the Festive Street Mall is not enough to satisfy your desire for shopping, also located in Danga Bay is the Danga City Mall. The 5 storey shopping complex is a contemporary establishment that features a wide variety of local as well as regional specialty stores where you can find just about anything. The shopping mall has positioned itself as the epicenter not only just for shopping but also food, leisure and entertainment.

Heck if you want to stay in shape while you are on holiday you can always drop by the Clark Hatch Fitness Centre. The point is Danga Bay has just about anything for everyone.

As mentioned before there are many F&B outlets located here at Danga Bay, so if you are looking for a different kind of dining experience then Danga Bay is just the place for you. They feature a wide range of uniquely themed restaurants that you can choose from depending what you are in the mood for. Set in unconventional settings each of the restaurants is designed to maximize your dining experience. For example there is the Danga Beach that offers a unique waterfront dining under the stars. The restaurant features a wide selection of freshly grilled seafood as well as serving an endless variety of Western and local flavors. While you are dining make sure to take in the picturesque view of Danga Bay, being cooled down by the gentle sea breeze while getting entertained by the strolling musicians.

Another unique dining experience that you should not miss out on is the Danga Cruise 8 that features a one of a kind dinner cruise along the waterfront. The restaurant also provides live entertainment and karaoke which you can enjoy as you are dining. The triple-decker sea cruise is able to accommodate up to 600 people for a buffet styled setting and about 480 people for a Chinese styled seated dinner.

There are also a number of international restaurants that not only serve international cuisines but also Oriental and Asian flavors. There is the Asiana that serves Penang and Asian styled cuisines, the Danga Palace Szechuan Restaurant as well as the Lazio which is an Italian restaurant and café. There is the Rose Garden Café the serves a combination that serves local and Western flavors in a cozy boutique café while there is also the Bayleaf Food Park that has more than 32 stalls that offers a huge selection of delicious local fare under one roof that also includes nightly entertainment and a large screen TV.

The best option of getting here is via taxi from the Johor Bahru city centre, the fare for the journey is about RM4 to RM5 depending on the traffic condition. Or another healthier option is to just walk there, follow the pedestrian path along the straits and it will take you about 2 km. Visitors to Danga Bay can also be accessed from the Skudai Highway via the Danga Bay interchange that is situated near the Danga Bukit Serene. If you are coming here from Singapore you can access Danga Bay via Jalan Skudai.
