The Sultan Abu Bakar Mosque is located at the peak of a hill in Johor Bahru. Here you can enjoy the scenery of the Straits of Johor while appreciating the supreme architecture of the mosque. For history lovers, Johor Bahru offers many landmarks that include the Johor Bahru Lighthouse which was build a century ago for ships coming in and out of the port. The State Secretariat Building is also an artistic attractions which houses various governmental offices.

For the nature lovers, you can visit Tanjung Piai National Park which is a harmoniously blended by the most natural elements of sea, plants, animals and earth. This part also habitats many bird species, mangrove crabs and crab eating macaques.

From the 1st to the 30th August 2007 the Bugfest Malaysia will be held. This is the congregation of Volkswagen collectors (hence the name Bugs) from neighbouring countries like Thailand and Singapore and not forgetting the Malaysian lovers as well. Various categories are up for grabs for the collectors to show and tell their Beetle machines.

The Tanjung Puterai Fest and the UIM F1 Powerboat World Championship will drive the beachfront of Jalan Sultan Laut alive with cultural activities, festivals and the F3000 Powerboat Malaysian Championship.
