A brief introduction about Johor Bahru

Johor Bahru, otherwise known as JB, the capital of Johor the southern state of Peninsular Malaysia is the second largest city in the country. Hosting the entry point from Singapore to Malaysia, JB forms the nucleus that manages the economic and tourism status of the state. Founded in 1855 by the then Temenggung of the state Daeng Ibrahim and Wong Ah Fook, it was named Tanjung Puteri at first only to be renamed to Johor Bahru after the administrative center was relocated here from Singapore. Officially granted city status in 1994, JB has since grown to accommodate travelers to and fro Singapore and Malaysia, hosting a series of events day by day from food festivals to cultural shows. The administrative landscape of JB is divided into 3 main districts namely the Johor Bahru District, the Pontain District and the Kota Tinggi District.
